For over thirty years, CAPLA has led the nation in research on building and site energy performance and solutions using high-tech systems and low-tech devices toward resource efficiency. In the next five years, CAPLA will expand this concentration in the following areas: 1) affordable design-build houses, 2) expansion of energy audits and retrofits by the existing Energy Doctor Program, 3) development of a new wind tunnel for modeling envelope integrity of buildings, 4) demonstrate the value of sustainable buildings and landscapes through measurable performance standards, and 5) guide future growth through policy on land protection, energy use and community planning.
